Our VFDs enhance power and efficiency, ensuring your equipment operates at its best. We design VFD panels to meet rigorous environments and specific customer needs.

Installing a VFD boosts performance and energy efficiency.

We provide drives from 1/8 to 1,000+ horsepower in all types of enclosures, ensuring versatility in your electrical systems. Our control panels integrate seamlessly, delivering optimal performance and durability.

What is a VFD, and what are the benefits?

A variable frequency drive (VFD) is a type of motor controller that drives an electric motor by varying the frequency and voltage of its power supply.

A VFD control panel brings together a VFD and other electrical devices inside a common enclosure that protects the equipment from other electrical and environmental factors.

The use of a VFD has multiple advantages but is not limited to the following:

  • Fully Adjustable Speed
  • Controlled Acceleration and Deceleration
  • Torque Control
  • Self-Diagnostics and Communication
  • Controls the Starting Current
  • Reducing Energy Usage
  • Extended Equipment Life and Reduced Maintenance

Possible VFD Configurations

VFD Control Panels can have a wide range of options and complexity. Whether you have an HVAC, Pump Control, Conveyor, or any motor application, WEST can provide a customized solution for your needs.

Here are some of the standard VFD configurations that we provide on a regular basis.

  • Circuit Breaker or Fused Disconnect – To protect the VFD during a power surge or short circuit.
  • Multiple VFDs – To control more than one motor.
  • Line Reactor or Harmonic Filters -To reduce harmonic distortion.
  • Bypass – To run the motor in case of VFD Failure.
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) -To control or monitor more advanced operations.
  • Motor Starters- for running additional motors.
  • Surge Protector External Controls, Displays, or Operators – To Control the VFD/Motor operation locally.
  • Cooling Fans and Accessories -To monitor the ambient air operating temperature.

Type Ratings

VFD Control Panels should be designed to fit the environment they will be used in, whether inside, in extreme temperatures, or in hazardous locations. WEST is equipped to engineer, manufacture and test VFD control panels to match your exact environment.

  • Type 12 VFD Panels
  • Type 3R VFD Panels
